Message from the National President of AFPI

Dear Members of the Academy of Family Physicians of India,

I am deeply honoured and privileged to assume the role of National President of the Academy of Family Physicians of India. As we gather at this prestigious Family Medicine and Primary Care Conference 2024 at AIIMS Rishikesh, I am filled with optimism and enthusiasm about what we can achieve together in the coming term. Our commitment to strengthening family medicine and primary care in India remains our highest priority. As we embark on this new term, I would like to outline my vision and the strategic direction for our esteemed academy:

1. Enhancing Education and Training: We aim to elevate the standards of medical education and continuing professional development for family physicians. We will work towards integrating advanced training modules, including the latest technological advancements and evidence-based practices, to ensure our members are well-equipped to meet the challenges of modern healthcare.

2. Promoting Innovation: Encouraging activities that address the unique healthcare needs of our communities will be a cornerstone of my tenure. We will foster a culture that supports innovation and evidence-based practice in primary care, facilitating collaborations that propel us towards new healthcare solutions.

3. Strengthening Community Engagement: Family physicians play a crucial role in community health. We will focus on building stronger ties with communities to advocate for wellness and preventive care. This involves deploying community-based initiatives that enhance public health literacy and access to essential health services.

4. Advocacy and Policy Development: Our academy will amplify its voice in shaping public health policies. By working closely with government bodies and other stakeholders, we aim to advocate for policies that prioritise primary care as the backbone of an effective health system, ensuring accessible and equitable healthcare for all.

5. Leveraging Technology for Better Health Outcomes: In an era where technology continually reshapes healthcare delivery, we will explore and implement digital solutions to improve patient outcomes and practice management, making healthcare more accessible and efficient.

6. Fostering Collaboration and Partnerships: By fostering collaborations with national and international healthcare organisations, we will exchange knowledge and practices that enhance our capabilities and enrich our members' contributions to global health.

Let us take this opportunity to reaffirm our dedication to advancing the field of family medicine in India. Together, we can create impactful change that uplifts the healthcare standards for all our citizens. I am excited to work alongside each of you as we embark on this journey to achieve our shared goals and aspirations.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment.

Warm regards,

Dr. (Col) Mohan Kubendra
