Dear members and colleagues

Greetings from AFPI! Many of us are aware that the Academy of Family Physicians of India was founded on 27th September 2010 in New Delhi. On this very day, our academic association was registered.

During our general body meeting in Hyderabad (FMPC 2022), we decided that every year, we will celebrate 27th September as FOUNDATION DAY of AFPI across India.

Further, we have decided that this day will also be observed as National Family Medicine Day (NFMD) in India, to mark the distinction, identity, and academic specialty of our discipline - Family Medicine.

Across India through our state chapters, branches, special interest groups, members, and member affiliated organizations( clinics, hospitals, training institutes, medical colleges), we will be conducting a series of events to mark this twin occasion.

Through this message, we appeal to all our members to gear up for celebrating and popularising this day! You may like to organize a health camp, workshop, CME, meeting, social event, social media messages, video, patient education event, meeting political leaders and policymakers, etc.

As part of this very special occasion, the National Executive of AFPI is organizing a 'National Consultation on Undergraduate Family Medicine Education' on 25th September 2022 (Sunday) at India International Centre, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. Separate information will be circulated about this consultation. It will be open to all members without any fee but with prior registration.
