JFMPC is the official journal of the Academy of Family Physicians of India. The journal committee has been constituted. The journal shall be launched in January 2012 as an online biannual issue. After first year the journal shall be published on quarterly basis and in print form as well. Interested faculty members and residents are encouraged to contact us.
About "Academy of family Physicians of India" (AFPI)
Academy of Family Physicians of India is an academic association doctors having full time formal training in the specialty of family medicine. The academy was established in 2010 under registration of societies act 1860.
Over last several decades family medicine has evolved and established itself as an specialty for skilled primary care physicians world over. Family medicine is often seen as counter cultural reflection against growing trend of specialties and sub specialties based fragmented care. Family medicine caters to the community need and desire for personalized, continued and non fragmented health care. Acceptance of family medicine in academic circles is standard approach internationally to organize clinical care for persons with undifferentiated signs, symptoms and illnesses. Family medicine provides structure for continued community based management of acute and chronic diseases. Family medicine also caters to the needs of special groups such as adolescents, geriatric population and terminally ill persons in community and home based set up. Family medicine ensures high quality, standardized, equitable framework for service delivery with emphasis on bio psycho- social nature of illness.
AFPI encourages medical students, trainees, residents, faculty and practitioners of family medicine for academic brainstorming towards establishment of family medicine in the mainstream university based teaching programs in India.

Journal of Family Medicine and Primary Care seeks to foster academic communication and interdisciplinary research among primary care providers engaged in various forms. The journal covers broad spectrum of clinical topics catering to the academic needs of family physicians, urban GPs, rural physicians, NRHM doctors, community surgeons, community health workers, providers of community obstetrical & pediatric care, emergency physicians, occupational physicians and public health specialists. Scope of the journal
Journal of Family Medicine and Primary Care invites physicians of first contact as well as other health providers to document reflections of their own practices and experiences towards accumulation wealth of scientific evidence enriching academics in primary care. Journal of Family Medicine and Primary Care offers opportunity to private practitioners (solo and group practice), general duty medical officers, occupational physicians, government doctors (engaged at central, state, district and other local health services), medical officers engaged in NRHM & other national health programs, public health specialists as well as practitioners of allied health disciplines to publish their work.
Journal of Family Medicine and Primary care advocates academic institutionalization of community health services through accumulation of data and evidence on health interventions focused at individual, family and community level. Journal also invites discussions and debates on evaluation of training programs, faculty development, curriculum standardization and development of practice standards and protocols.
